Former Harri Son Resident James Artcliff Dies in Detroit
James Henry Artcliff a Hazelton township native born January last, aged 59, died Sunday October 14 1928 at St Joseph Mercy hospital Detroit. He lived in Harrison many years and belonged to the Harrison Odd Fellows lodge over twenty five years. He moved to Detroit sixteen years ago and managed a C F Smith store. Survived by wife ill health, two brothers William Clare and Edward Saginaw, a sister Mrs Sarah Barlow Greenwood township, and son Wilbur Detroit. Funeral services were at Clare Congregational church with Rev H B Johnson officiating and burial at Cherry Grove cemetery.

Mr and Mrs Hugh Henderson detected smoke at the County Infirmary last week and traced the blaze to a furnace area. A basement ceiling search revealed heat under a large cook stove, an axe freed the blaze, and two large cans of chemical extinguished it. The damage was a two foot diameter hole in the floor.

The United States government orchestra will perform two programs at Mt. Pleasant’s Central State Teachers College on Tuesday October 23 under the Mt. Pleasant Chamber of Commerce.
