Rubinoff to Play Warsaw Concerto This Friday Nite

Clare music lovers will hear Rubinoff perform the Warsaw Concerto as a violin solo with praise from Metropolitan critics calling it his brilliant triumph. The program links wartime themes with personal history as Rubinoff uses the Stradivarius from Warsaw and his 14 year old Conservatory roots. The Mt Pleasant College Auditorium concert marks a new peak in his popularity and a times styled event.

Former Clare resident killed by rail work train near Cle Elum

David Kirkpatrick age 86 known as Grand dad died after being struck by a Northern Pacific work train while crossing the track near the Cle Elum depot. He had lived in Cle Elum for 35 years and later spent two years in Tacoma. Survived by a brother and grandsons, burial held in Cle Elum.

The Fair Pilgrimage to St. Henry Church Rosebush Michigan will be held at the 10:30 Mass this Sunday October 26 in honor of St. Anne. All sick and suffering are invited including infants. Major W. Lewis Dies After Four Year Illness at 79

Major W. Lewis died Friday October 17, 1947 at 8 45 p m aged 79 after a four year illness. Born April 25 1868 in Clinton County Michigan he married Ida Beadle in 1889 who preceded him. Survived by daughter Agnes Wy man Clare a son Karl R Lewis Imboden Arkansas three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral at Clare Congregational Church with Masonic rites at DeWitt cemetery conducted by John Q Look Lodge and DeWitt Lodge.

A regional camporee for Isabella and Clare counties is set for October 25 and 26 at the Weidman Camp Site near Mt. Pleasant. Ernie Phillips Killed in Cadillac Crash

Ernie Phillips of Lake was fatally injured and his wife Harriet and son Orval badly hurt when their truck collided with a fast car on M-115 Saturday. Phillips died in Cadillac hospital Sunday. Orval sustained chest and lung injuries requiring over 200 stitches. Miss Gerry Gunn, a passenger, broke her jaw. The Detroit driver was hospitalized in Ann Arbor with possible neck injury. Clare County Rural Schools hold second music meeting

On October 13 at Clare High School auditorium, 22 pupils and teachers from several schools gathered for the second Rural Music meeting led by Miss Mabel Miles. Participants included Mrs. Beakes, Mrs. Schunk, Mrs. Strouse, and others. The group practiced rhythm work, songs like Sweet and Low and My Bonnie, and closed with a Hansel and Gretel record.

Violators Kill Doe Pay Fine In Michigan Court

Four men from Marion Adrian and Flint pleaded guilty in Justice Wilkinson's court to shooting a doe from a car on M 115. Each paid 100 dollars plus 6.85 dollars costs. Fankhauser’s gun was seized. Other local cases included larceny charges, reckless driving, and probation conditions.

Mich Eldership Session Opens at Elm Grove Bethel

The ninety fourth annual session of the Michigan Eldership of the Church of God meets at the Bethel in Elm Grove ten miles northeast of Clare starting October 24 at 9 00 a m. Rev M R Honderich delivers the opening sermon with Rev Roy Miller alternates.
