Apple Truckers Arrested Here for Violations
Department of Agriculture Inspectors made three arrests here Tuesday for violations of fruit transport rules. Oliver Tompkins pled guilty before Justice Dunlop, fined 50 dollars plus 3.35 costs, fine suspended. Lee Hershiser of West Unity Ohio pled guilty, fined 15 dollars and 8.20 costs, paid and released. A Gleason & Company trucker pled guilty, fined 50 dollars and 3.35 costs, fine suspended. Homer Jackson of Rosebush pled guilty to not having his car under control, fined 10 dollars and 3.35 costs. No injuries reported in two vehicle collisions on US-10 and US-27. damages at 100 dollars per car. Police warn motorists at McEwan and State Streets and will prosecute reckless driving.

Harold Thompson Dies at 52 in Grant Township
Harold Thompson died suddenly at his home in Grant township on October 6 1947 aged 52 years four months and fourteen days. He was born May 22 1895 in Vernon township Isabella county and survived by five aunts two uncles and numerous cousins. Funeral services were held at Thurston Funeral Home with Rev Charles Kleinhardt officiating and burial in Cherry Grove cemetery. Relatives from out of town included Miss Anna Empey Reginald Reid and the Nevill family.

Auto accidents claim three lives in area Friday
Two women died and one man was killed in separate Friday evening auto pedestrian and vehicle crashes. Mrs. Hya Worden, 72, of Clare, died after being struck on US-10 near Loomis. Her daughter Emma McCreary, 54, died next day from pulmonary embolism while caring for her mother. Leonard F. Gilbert, 52, of Detroit, reported seeing both women cross and then collide as his 1941 Pontiac struck Worden. In a separate incident, John M. Krause, from Flint, was killed by a 1947 Ford truck on US-10 near Clare, after being struck while walking. Coroners and police investigated both crashes.
