Mrs H B Halstead Dies After Long Illness at Bay City
Mrs. H B Halstead died Saturday morning October 15 after a prolonged illness at a Bay City hospital. Born Blanche Cole February 11 1882 in Corunna Michigan she moved to Clare in 1908 and married Herschel B Halstead on January 1 1909. She leaves a husband a daughter Dorothy a son Horton Case her parents Mr and Mrs Wm H Cole a brother William and many relatives. Last rites were held Monday at her parents home Rev H B Johnson officiating with burial at Cherry Grove cemetery.

Funeral services for Isaac Gordon of Gilmore township were held at Gilmore Christian church last Saturday. Rev Leroy Whitney officiated as Mrs Glass and Mr and Mrs James Stanley accompanied by Mildred Stanley on piano sang. Gordon born February 28 1853 in Macomb county died October 12 1927 at 75. He married Ella Marey January 1 1873 and they lived in Gilmore over sixty years. His wife died last May. Survived by three of seven children Benjamin Detroit Mrs Belle Richards Lan sing and Mrs Amelia Douglas Greenville. One brother Frank Millbrook and one sister Lucinda Davie St Louis. Body buried Lincoln township.

Stevenson Lake correspondent reports Andrew Irwin held a late night party at his rebuilt south shore Stevenson lake home after last Fourth of July fire. About fifty guests from Saginaw and Clare Rural Fire Dept attended. Bert McLaughlin and Fred Glass led fiddling with dancing and card games. Allen Crum and Johnson won clown dancing prizes before Bert continued playing Show Me The Way To Go Home as the crowd departed.

Clare High School lost to Mt Pleasant High 12 to 0 at Island Park Mt Pleasant Friday. The first half was scoreless after Clare drove to the twelve yard line but could not score.
