Patsy Schlafley Installed as Rebekah State President

Patsy Schlafley was installed Tuesday evening as President of the Rebekah Assembly of Michigan in Lansing. The ceremony followed a week of state sessions, with Schlafley’s service record noted from Theta Rho Girl to Outside Guardian and multiple lodge roles.

Color Contest Begins Today

Kids ages 4 through 10 are invited to enter a new coloring contest sponsored by The Sentinel. The two entries printed this week begin a weekly series through December 14 with $20 in prizes split by two age classes. Entries mailed after the series finish will be judged by three Clare Business and Professional Women's Club members. All submitted pictures become The Sentinel property and may be printed with winners' names.

Isabella UF Drive Sets County Fund Goal

Isabella County United Fund Drive aims at least 550 in contributions toward a 48000 goal. Community chairmen include David L. Bellinger for Rosebush. The drive launched on Wednesday October 18 with a 7 30 breakfast for solicitors at Central Michigan University.

The VFW post in Clare launches a drive to collect names and addresses of military personnel and veterans away from home to mail Christmas greetings. Post Commander James Corsant seeks all home addresses served by the Clare post office and aims to finish by mid November.

Pioneers Pull Away To Beat Evart 26 13 On Friday Night

Clare High fullback Roger Kushmaul starred with 156 rushing yards and two touchdowns as the undefeated Pioneers beat Evart 26 13. Tom Lewis set up a score with a first half interception and Ewatt added a late TD return. The Pioneers travel to Farwell Friday before facing Meridian in two weeks.

MEA Conference Draws 6000 Teachers Across Regions 11 and 12

Teachers have a two day break while MEA gathers 6 000 educators for the annual fall conference in Saginaw Bay City and Midland sessions. Clare and Farwell districts are represented by Region 12 delegates Margery Cleveland and James Shuster with presidents Laverty and Cleveland. Mid Michigan Community College Names New Dean of Resources

David Young named Dean of Resources at Mid Michigan Community College. He assumed duties September 1 1967 after two years at Oakland Community College where he organized the library and managed the audio visual centers and college catalog. He is a Grand Blanc High School graduate with degrees from Central Michigan University and Wayne State. He will organize the library establish an audio visual program and assist in catalog development. Married father of one son he will reside in Clare.

Miss Joan Ray and her mother, visiting Bertha Lake from Flint, found lizards in their water well during a week long vacation. Conservation Officer Don Bell said the lizards are harmless, despite local talk they may be poisonous.

Isa bella County Plat Book Due Early In 1968

A new Isa bella County Plat Book is in the works with prep work underway this week. It will be compiled and ready for the public early in 1968 and will include maps of every township with farms, owners, buildings, and locational data. Advertising will fund most costs, handled by Ewart Bowerman and the 4-H Club Coaigem.
