Pioneers Fall Short as Clare Wins Homecoming Clash
Clare’s homecoming crowd celebrated a 26 7 victory over Coleman to extend the Pioneers four game winless skid. The game featured Jim Baker’s 39 yard pass to Chet Methner on the final Coleman drive and a stubborn Clare defense that repelled two Coleman threats inside the Clare 30. Gary Rayburn lamented his team’s failure to perform up to Reed City game level.

Calla House CMU Pianist At Interlochen
Calla House a CMU junior from Clare represented Central Michigan University at the College Piano Forum at Interlochen last Monday. She played the Bulgarian Dances by Bartok and earned a master class with Gyorgy Sandor, pupil of Bartok. House studied under Dr. Forrest Robinson and was one of five CMU piano students at the forum with peers from MSU, UM, WMU, and Hope College.

May results show Sale High School achieving a $5320 total in the magazine and Clare Sentinel subscription drive. Top seller Lynn Bay earned a $248.94 prize, with Robbie Gershon Betty Kisnosky Dorothy Hess and Chris Demo among prize winners. Freshmen led classes with $2003, followed by sophomores 1532 juniors 1075 and seniors 599. First Hour Class led group division under Mrs. Ruth Franstead.
