Diesel Smashes Stalled Truck Tuesday Morning
Albert Becker 42 of Mt. Pleasant narrowly escaped serious injuries when his scraper truck for the Isabella County Road Commission was struck on a crossing by a C and O Diesel freight engine at Loomis. Becker said the truck stalled on a sharp dip. the engine, traveling 45 mph, struck the rear as he tried to move off the tracks. Becker treated for head lac erations and bruises. the truck valued at 6000 was a total loss.

Rustlers Plead Guilty Tuesday in Circuit Court
Theodore Halstead and his wife Elizabeth pleaded guilty to differs theft charges after arraignment before Judge Donald Holbrook. The case, tied to a yearling Hereford steer stolen from Arthur township, was sent to Probation Officer Mor tis Shaw for investigation prior to sentencing. G. GC. Rock and his son Foss hunted a Kodiak bear that escaped from dens north of the city on US 27. Foss fired October 4 with a 25 20 rifle but the bear fled. John Leposky reported shooting the bear along US 27 around midnight. Amble and Leposky returned at dawn to confirm the kill.

Born October 22, 1889 in Corunna Michigan he was a World War I veteran and longtime Consumers Power employee. He leaves wife Mary four sons Harry Willard Wilbur Jr Harl two daughters Ruth Beulah a foster daughter and many grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Doharty Funeral Home with Rev.
