Bauder 85 a Clare area pioneer died at his Stevenson Lake farm Sunday October 13 after a long illness Funeral services were held at Clare Methodist Church October 16 with Rev L J Nevins officiating Burial was in Cherry Grove Cemetery with the Masonic Lodge in charge Funeral arrangements were by Stevenson Funeral Home He was born December 27 1871 in Queensborough Ontario Canada came to Clare at age 17 and lived on the Vernon township farm since 1890 He married Margaret Elliott August 28 1912 and they resided on the same farm He worked as a lumber jack and riverman before farm life and was affiliated with the Clare Methodist Church He is survived by his wife seven children two brothers a sister 27 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Frank Lewis 71 of Lake George was sentenced by Circuit Judge Donald E. Holbrook to 12 to 15 years for manslaughter in the August Lake George fatal shooting of Hugh Nugent of Crescent New Jersey. Lewis was sent to Jackson State Penitentiary after arrest following a quarrel with Nugent. Witnesses described tear gas used to compel his surrender at the cabin.
