Equipment on ground in Hatton Township for third adventure. A control head was placed on the McKay Mercier gas well last week and the pressure gauge read over four hundred fifty pounds with no decline in gas volume. James McKay denied rumors of sale and said they will stay and drill more wells to prove the field. Visitors from oil companies have already come, and several deals and new locations are being pursued nearby. Equipment is being placed for a well ten miles north of Clare on U S 27, while drilling continues at the Lost Lake well.

Newly Elected Officer Presides At Post Meet
Arleigh Gorr, the new commander of the Walter H. Larman American Legion post, presided at a Holbrook’s office meeting. Plans for Armistice Day were discussed and H. G. Johnston named arrangements chair for a program with Clare Public schools. The post reports a treasury balance over 700 dollars and a post cabin project may start once 1,000 dollars is in hand. Young People Rally Planned At Methodist Church
The Young People’s Programme Service will present a seven thirty program next Sunday evening at the Methodist church following a morning Rally service. Edgar Stanley leads with Mildred Stirling guiding a lesson and Miss Secor performing poetical interpretation. A duet by Miss Gerow and Miss Rogers conducted by Robert Welch, plus Dramatic Pantomime Oh Zion Haste and a Spirit of Kingdom Progress costume display by seven young ladies, with readings by Mrs Willard Bicknell and relics by Mr Hurd. The public is invited to attend and encourage the youth as they begin the year.

Funeral Rites Held Tuesday for Mrs Emma Wild
Emma Kindig was born in Zurich on February 28 1860 and died October 6 at her Clare home after months of illness. She married Henry Wilds in 1880, lived in Saginaw Vernon township and Clare, leaving four sons Frank William Harry Herman and a daughter Mrs Wilma Cowden and fifteen grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the house led by Rev Teeter with Rev MacDonald, burial in Cherry Grove Cemetery.

Mrs Josephine Rainey Dies At Home In Farwell
Josephine Campbell Rainey born August 6 1848 in Wayne County New York died October 6 1929 at her Farwell home. She moved with her parents to Washtenaw County Michigan as a child and married Robert Rainey in 1871. She left a sister Mary Gamble brothers B H Campbell and J C Campbell five nephews and three nieces. Funeral services by Rev W W Hurd were held at the home and burial followed in Surrey Cemetery.

Error in law limits camps to one deer

Teachers Entertained by Guild at Nelson Home
The Congregational church Guild hosted Glare School teachers at the Nelson home for an annual party.
