Jesse Newman Injured at School in Arthur Township
Eleven year old Jesse Vernell Newman, son of Mr and Mrs J C Newman, was injured at school when he and a classmate collided near the schoolhouse two weeks ago. Doctors found infection in the leg below the knee and performed a serious operation removing shattered bone. he is now in a cast and slowly recovering.

Mrs F H Ballinger of Los Angeles died after an appendicitis operation during a Sacramento trip. She had lived in Clare and Shepherd Michigan before moving to Los Angeles in 1909. Survived by husband daughter and granddaughter, two brothers and a sister. Funeral held at Vincent Methodist church with ministers and local officials in attendance. Her lifelong church work and Ladies Aid service were praised.

The Kentucky Twins Alger Betty 31 James Beatty 55 and John Fox 49 were arrested after federal officers found a large moonshine still about two miles from Beaverton. Officers seized 600 gallons of whiskey 2 000 gallons of mash a large copper still and a canvas walled hideout. The plant was destroyed.

Two Cars Collide Over Unlit Trailer Parked on Highway
A head on collision occurred Sunday evening on U S 27 one mile south of Rosebush when a commercial trailer left unlicensed and unlit was parked on the gravel. Anton Billgren of Alma and Carl Eaton of Coleman were the drivers. Eaton swerved left to avoid the trailer striking the Billgren vehicle. Mrs Billgren and two children were injured mildly and treated at Dr Johnson’s Rosebush office. Mt Pleasant authorities searched for the trailer owner.
