The Clare County Young Republican club sponsors a rally and banquet on Wednesday October 14 at 6 30 PM in the Clare Community building. Hon Roy O Woodruff Bay City Congressman will speak along with Miles M Callaghan Reed City and Bernie Hampton Harrison plus Senator Ben Carpenter and other Republican nominees. Banquet cost is fifty cents. seating for 300 planned with reservations sought from all parts of the county.

Mr and Mrs John Doherty hosted about fifty Clare County Democratic women last evening with leaders praising early accomplishments and urging vigilance against unfounded criticism. E. H. Sternaman Honored by the American Photographers Assn

E H Sternaman had four entries in a Photographers' Association of America exhibit contest. Two prints were chosen for exhibit and one reserved for loan collections. His prize print titled Our Little Bit of Heaven features Suzanna Irving, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Irving. The loan collection selections represent about ten percent of submissions. Sternaman will receive his original print with seal and ribbon.

Oil Progress Near Clare With Multiple Wells Update

The Currie well south of Clare has reached 3800 feet with normal formations and Dundee is expected to reach 3920 feet early next week. The Stewart Beatty well derrick was skidded 15 feet south after a drive-pipe collapse, now at 300 feet. Fetters No 1 is at 800 feet, Earl Beatty below 1325 feet, and equipment is arriving for a well on the Marseilles farm south of Clare in section 23.

The Clare City Council issued multiple building permits easing the housing shortage. Winnie Tasker hires Lloyd Cole to build a two story home on east Sixth Street. Floyd Seeley buys four Jackson Street lots and plans two one story houses this fall. Ripen burg and Nass convert the Oise Derby garage into a four room apartment.
