Benefit Concert a Big Success
A large audience gathered at the high school auditorium last Friday to support Prof. E. S. Peterson’s eye sight restoration fund. The program drew strong patronage, with ticket sales of 148.86 and a 4.00 donation from the Sentinel, totaling 152.86. expenses were 8.78 and 144.11 was deposited to his Citizens State Bank account.

The adjourned Clare County Circuit Court session in Harrison convicted William Kraln and Godfrey Klann of liquor law violations, T. W. Michael was initially convicted but the case was overturned on constitutional grounds, Harold Griffin was found guilty, Orr Campbell convicted of assault with intent rape, Lyte Benneau guilty of breaking and entering, George Griffin acquitted, Frank Burns dismissed for lack of evidence. Judge Hart to sentence after court, total criminal cases reduced from eleven to four.

Clare City Library Set to Open October 11
The Publicity Committee announces the library will open to the public on Saturday October 11 with over twelve hundred catalogued books. Rules will be published next week along with a department book summary and magazine list. The association thanks Mrs. Chris Reger for a five dollar donation to support literature for the public. Pitchfork Penetrates Boy's Lung Near Mill Pond

Miss Augusta Orth Dies in Saginaw Boarding House Proprietor
Miss Augusta J. Orth aged 54 died after a long illness at her Saginaw home. She operated a boarding house at 214 South Michigan with her late sister Mrs. Mary Sanford and later alone. Born in Canada May 15 1870 she lived in Clare since 1884 and belonged to several church groups and orders. Her funeral will be in Clare Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. H. B. Johnson officiating.

Harrison Woman Killed in Dixie Highway Crash Near Birch Run
Mrs. Irene Cooper of Harrison, 66, died instantly when a Ford touring car driven by her son in law Edson Wood collided with a Detroit truck and was struck by a second car. Five Wood family members were injured and taken to Mt. Morris hospital. Undersheriff Rondo reported blame between Wood and Nelson despite attempts to avoid the crash. An inquest was ordered but not yet scheduled.
