Local families hosted relatives from Gladwin Midland Oscoda and Breckenridge for Thanksgiving and weekend dinners. Guests included the Gorts from Harrison and the McDonalds from Swartz Creek visiting Earl and Earl Thomas and other area grandparents.
Farwell High's National Honor Society chapter inducted new members in a ceremony that featured a rendition of Born Free by Janelle Cook Christine Wood and Brenda Worstell with Mrs Wood on piano. Members and Home Economics classes hosted a reception and must maintain a B average to stay active. Beverly Foster oversees the chapter and is a Clare High School graduate.
Elizabeth Frances Rose born November 25 1902 in Chatham Massachusetts died November 19 at Gladwin Hospital after months of ill health. She married Reuben W. Rose December 8 1917 in Flint and would have observed their 50th anniversary this year. The family lived in Clare before moving to Gladwin seven years ago. Survived by husband two sons Reuben Jr. and Raymond, her sister Mildred Ransom ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral Tuesday November 21 at Miner Chapel Gladwin Rev F E Voller officiated with burial in Highland Cemetery.

Manuel Sutton 74 of 806 Cedar St Clare passed away November 22 at Central Michigan Community Hospital after a short illness. He was born April 1 1893 in Clare son of Hiram and Bessie Sutton a retired farmer and former Clare County Road Commission member. He owned Manies Tavern 1957 to 1962 and served on the cemetery board. Survivors include wife Violet two sons two daughters a sister and many grandchildren. Memorial service was held Friday night and burial at Cherry Grove Cemetery after services at Stephenson Funeral Home with pastors Virgil Brinkman and Karl Wickstrom officiating.
Faith Carrier 66 of 204 E Fourth St Clare died November 23 at Central Michigan Community Hospital after five years of ill health. Born October 21 1901 in Clare she was daughter of James and Louise Barber and lived here all her life. She married Rex Carrier August 30 1929 in Michigan City Indiana. He died October 10 1962. Survived by sister Mrs E M Harrison Los Angeles CA and three brothers Don G Barber Edwin B Barber and Dale Barber of Clare. Funeral Sunday November 26 from Stephenson Funeral Home Rev Harold Knickerbocker officiating. Interment Cherry Grove Cemetery.
Clare County Farm Bureau Women will meet December 5 at 1 15 PM in the Grant town hall. A cake decorating demonstration is planned with a $1 gift exchange. Members should bring a recipe and a sample of it.

The Rosebush Presbyterian Junior High Fellowship met on Sunday night November 26 in the church with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Campbell leading. Tim Robertson led devotions and Bill Dixon handled recreation. Sheila Blake hosted. The group is conducting a Bible study on the Peter Epistles led by Mrs. Campbell.
