Clare High School band sends fifteen members to join fifteen from six other high schools for a Beaverton District concert on Saturday December 1 at 8 pm in Beaverton High School auditorium. Selections include overtures descriptive numbers religious pieces instrumental solos tone poem and The Stars and Stripes Forever. Six Winners In Rotary Word Contest Debut
The Clare Rotary Club announces six winners for a misspelled word contest tied for first place. Winners Blanche Giebel Judy Marot zke Ernest Sprague Bertha Sprague and Chris a Krell of Clare and Janet Bailey of Rosebush will attend the December 5 luncheon for tie breaking. Fourteen more entrants correctly identified 51 of 52 misspelled words and receive $2 checks. The contest drew 118 entries to benefit Rotary civic and youth projects.

Farm Credit Meeting Set December 5

Kiwanis Dinner Features Roasted Bear From Northern Michigan
Murl Houghton shared a hunting tale at the Doherty hotel Kiwanis dinner. He bagged a 425 pound black bear in Dead Stream Swamp near Houghton Lake, wounded it Friday November 23, tracked it Sunday, and finished it with a head shot. Chef Dan Czyzewski served the roast with potato gravy, salad, coffee, rolls and dessert.

Collision At Harrison Injures Four
An almost head on crash two miles north of Harrison on US 27 injured four people on Tuesday evening November 20. Lawrence O Day and Karl Gianero, both from Marion Ohio, were in one car with injuries including head lacerations and fractures. John Cunningham and Jessie Mattison, from Jackson Michigan, in the other car, suffered facial and chest injuries. All were treated at Clare General Hospital and later moved or released as noted.

Michigan State Police seeks 100 new troopers in November drive
Michigan State Police will open a recruiting drive November 21 to enlist 100 new troopers. Two entrance exams are scheduled by the Civil Service Commission with applications due December 19 for the first and January 30 for the second. Applicants should apply early to begin training before May 1. Salaries and benefits are described, including pay up to 5804 a year, $900 subsistence, longevity pay after six years, two paid vacations, lodging, uniforms, and a pension for widows. Applicants must be at least 5 feet 9 inches tall, in good health, and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Novi youth Alvin Munro Whistle 22 pleaded guilty to reckless driving in Clare Municipal Court after a high speed pursuit through downtown Clare.
