John Dionise long time Clare business man died Saturday at University Hospital Ann Arbor after two years of ill health aged 56. He came to Clare in 1914 from Italy and ran fruit confectionery and a tavern before retirement in 1946. He leaves wife Mary daughters Virginia and Marion son Paul two grandchildren and his mother in St Paul Italy. Funeral at St Cecilia's Church followed by burial in Deepdale Cemetery Lansing.

The body of Tech. 5 Keith C. Johnson, son of Mr and Mrs George Johnson of Harrison, drowned in Germany on March 24, 1945, was to arrive in New York on the SS Robert Burns, Wednesday at 10:00 am. Funeral services will be held at the Congregational Church in Harrison with Rev. Harold Watson officiating and V F W and American Legion members assisting. Time and date of services will be announced in the Sentinel if arrival allows.

A flash fire destroyed the Lone Pine Service Station and Restaurant after a motorist found the blaze at 10:40 AM Tuesday. Firefighters faced fast-spreading flames fed by alcohol and oil. the station and main restaurant were wiped out, with the kitchen damaged but portions saved. Loss estimated at 7600 dollars.
