Woman Injured North of Clare in Vehicle Collision
Clare Hospital reported 65 year old Anna Heuschele was struck by a car a mile north of Clare on US 27. Griffin admitted to following a black coupe at 35 to 40 mph before the woman fell and his vehicle turned over. An unidentified driver left the scene. Heuschele suffered a dislocated kneecap. highway marks confirm Griffin did not strike her.

Randall 4-H Girls Hold November Sewing Meeting

Former Clare Man Fatally Shot While Hunting
Paul V Sorrell 27 of Beaverton former Clare resident was killed by a rifle bullet Saturday afternoon while hunting in Buckeye township Gladwin county. Born July 19 1920 in Louisa Kentucky he married Sarah Ray in 1943 served as Air Force officer in World War II and was a ground school instructor at Gladwin Airport. He leaves his wife three year old daughter Laraine his parents Kenneth and one sister. Funeral Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home Gladwin with Rev John R Scott officiating. burial Highland Cemetery.

A string of hunting-related tragedies across Michigan includes eleven men killed by gunfire or accidents near Manistique, Onaway, Harrison, Roscommon, Gladwin, Flint, and other counties.
