Katherine Morgan, 77, of Clare, was severely injured crossing Hast Fifth St at Hemlock when a car driven by Clarence Rummiler swerved to miss her. She suffered a fractured pelvis and leg, and was taken to Clare Hospital.
The church announces Mrs Redman will again present a gospel message in art on her drawing board with colored lights and a black light finale. Rev and Mrs Naman recently returned from a Cathro Michigan revival where her drawings entertained large crowds. Evening service begins at 7 45.
Mt. Vernon Grangé presents a show and dance Saturday night November 27 at 9 30 p m at the Clare city hall. Music and entertainment provided by the Western Polla Baird WHNX Saginaw. Everyone welcome.
The Clare High School Debate Club lost their first debate of the year to Elsie on Monday November 15 The topic was RE SOLVED That the United Nations now be revised into a Federal World Government Clare fields two teams with Verna Nash and Julie Ilana and Reine Reeder and Clara Worstell. Judges from Central Michigan College of Education offered feedback and a luncheon followed. Clare plans two teams to travel to St Louis November 23 for the next preliminary round.
Harold Forsberg a Cole man druggist and son in law of Mr and Mrs Louis Thayer of Clare died suddenly at his Coleman home early Tuesday morning after feeling ill Monday afternoon He had returned home from his drug store and was found dead in bed Funeral services set for Friday at North Bradley Methodist Church with Rev H B Johnson of Oxford officiating interment in Cherry Grove cemetery in Clare Arrangements by Doherty Funeral Home Coleman
Harley Helt, known for a cheery disposition, is named head meat cutter at Witbeck Market. He previously worked several years for Marvin Witbeck before the store established its own. Harvey Ritter, employed by Witbeck’s for months, has not announced future plans.
Mrs. Millard Fillmore of Clare Mich and mother of Mrs. Reva Maxwell and Mrs Gee Wisler died at home in Hope Michigan Monday. Funeral services were held there at 2:00 PM Wednesday.
Mrs. Daisley Goodman widow of Fred Goodman longtime Clare resident died at her home Tuesday morning. Funeral services will be held at Thurston Funeral Home Friday at 2:00 PM with Rev. Chas. B. Hah officiating and burial in Cherry Grove Cemetery beside her husband.
John Dunsmore of Holland Township Missaukee County was found dead in his residence on Sunday forenoon after exposure to fumes from a light plant motor. Funeral services were held at Leota Schoolhouse on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 with Rev. David Halley officiating and interment in Frost Cemetery.
The Big Buck Contest at Harold Fleming Hi-Speed station in Clare gathers 3 000 registrants from 289 Michigan towns and neighboring states. Winners include Merl Dunn 199 pounds heaviest and Ward Plants 20 1/2 inch spread. Clifford Brasington leads early at 7 40 a m on November 16.
A 1947 Board of Governors ruling restricts participation in federated fund campaigns and directs fundraising to proceed only in the Red Cross name. The policy emphasizes board control, chapter influence, and adherence to the charter to meet national and international obligations.

Morley K Lansing, born October 24 1885 in Wise Township Isabella County Michigan, died November 17 1948 at age 63. He lived on a farm until 1914 then moved to Detroit. Survived by sister Mrs Ida Lamphere and brother William Lansing of Clare. Funeral held at William Lansing home with Rev Harry Cleveland officiating, interment Cherry Grove Cemetery.
Relatives morn the death of Dade Sherman at his Farwell home after a long heart ailment. Born May 15, 1861 in Norfolk County Canada he lived in Farwell since age twelve. He married Margaret Smith in 1893 and leaves two daughters Anna Foell and Mary Updegraff and son William B Sherman plus siblings grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral held November 21 at Thurston Funeral Home Reverend Hahn officiating.
Loomis resident Fred Garchow donates a fourteen month old Jersey heifer for a school fundraising event. The animal will be raffled at the Loomis School midmas program to raise funds for re-roofing the schoolhouse with community cooperation urged.
Rosebush pastors participate in the new Alma radio station WFYC devotionals. The Presbyterian Rev R O Thomson and Methodist Rev Willis Dunn have hosted morning devotionals, with Thomson on November 20 and Dunn contributing earlier this fall. The program attracts many local listeners and daily requests.
The Clare Study Club meets Tuesday evening at 8:00 in the Methodist Church for a musical program directed by Professor Berard Stone of Mt Pleasant Wallen's Choral. Guests may be invited and seating notices reference a ticketing system.

Marvin B. Quance, born August 4, 1880 in Novi Michigan, died November 6 1948 near Harrison Michigan at 68. He served in the Spanish American War Mexican War World Wars I and II. He leaves one son William Wallace Quance now William W. Graham of Farwell five grandchildren one brother in law Carl Lump of Millbrook one nephew and three nieces of Lansing. Funeral services held November 17 at Thurston Funeral Home with Howard L. Krause officiating burial in Gilmore Township Cemetery.
A Christmas play titled To Be presented at the Methodist Church features worship and is sponsored by the Good Samaritan Sunday School class. It depicts the Wise Men visiting an inn where Mary and Joseph are refused shelter, prompting the innkeeper to reflect and change his heart. The cast includes Jothan the innkeeper Harry Dice Mary Mrs Willard Bicknell David Gordon Hahn Ibzan Thed Wallington Eli Warren White Zorah H J Youmian Casper Don Holbrook Jr Melchior Herbert Byers Balthasar Lee Sowle. The production aims to be an impressive and devotional program.
Arthur Center Church of God will host a chicken supper at the Arthur town hall on November 30 starting at 6 PM. Proceeds will go toward the church building fund.

Carlinda Elizabeth Haight born September 16, 1854 in Sanilac County Michigan died November 17 1948 at daughter’s home in Lake George. She married William Holler July 18 1873 Cedar Springs Michigan. seven children. Preceded in death by husband 1914 and two sons. Funeral at Panning Home Harrison with burial Hillcrest Greenwood Township. Pallbearers were six grandsons. Numerous relatives attended from Ohio Michigan.
Clare Fire Department responded to a blaze near the Sentinel office at 9:00 PM Monday. Merle Davis of Mt. Pleasant drove a 1936 Oldsmobile to a service station when the car burst into flames due to a faulty carburetor. Firefighters extinguished the blaze with losses estimated at 160 dollars.

Deer hunters below the Straits seek colder weather and snow to aid tracking. A dead four point buck found near Cedar Park was spoiled. possibly shot and left by a hunter. Region Two reports normal hunter numbers despite mild weather and no snow. A grass fire near Loomis burned 160 acres. volunteers halted it by 4pm. A 15 year old youth was shot in the leg by a hunting companion and received hospital care.
Mothers' Club sponsors a pie social with three bazaar and entertainment events at Loomis School on December 3 at 8 00 p m. Proceeds support community activities.
The American Legion Auxiliary announces a rummage sale in December at the Legion Hall in Clare County. Funds support Legion activities and community programs.
