Dearborn Hunter Injuries From Clare County Wreck
Clare County Road Commissioner Frank Beam of Long Lake and D H McCreary of Dearborn were in a head on collision on US 27 south of the Clare Roscommon line while returning from deer hunting. McCreary suffered a forehead laceration and multiple broken ribs while Beam had minor injuries and severe shock. Beam’s car burned and was destroyed. McCreary’s car was wrecked. Sheriff Seaver Anihle investigated.

Criminal Cases Heard in Circuit Court Monday
Two criminal cases were brought to trial before Judge Ray Hart in Circuit Court at Harrison Monday. William Hoppe of Mt. Pleasant faced charges of indecent liberties with minor children and was granted a mental examination. Irvin Mather of Harrison pleaded guilty to the same charge and was sent to Probation Officer Hiram Nicholson for investigation. Both defendants are jailed awaiting further developments. A number of chancery cases were also heard during the session.

Pioneer Railroad Builder John White of Clare Dies at 84
John White aged 84 died at his Clare home on Saturday November 20 following a long career as a pioneer railroad and highway engineer. Born in Armagh Ireland in 1859 he worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad system and led projects for the Ann Arbor Railroad and several electric railways. He later served as county engineer of Clare County and retired in 1938 before joining his son in Whites Greenhouse and Nursery. He is survived by three children ten grandchildren and two grandsons in military service. Services were held at Doherby Funeral Home with burial in Cherry Grove Cemetery.

Mrs Kenneth Haines received a telegram from the Adjutant General stating her husband Second Lieutenant Kenneth L Haines has been reported missing in action since November 5 in the European area.
