Family Fellowship Night At Congregational Church Delights Community

About eighty to ninety people attended the Congregational church Family Fellowship Night on a Wednesday evening. The Clare High School Little Symphony Orchestra performed several numbers, led by Mr. Garen, followed by four reels of wildlife movies shown by Art Damoth. The event celebrated Christian fellowship with a grand pot luck supper and thanks to organizers. The next Family Fellowship Night is planned for the first Wednesday in January.

Father Morrison in Serious Condition at Mercy Hospital

The Rev. Fr. Stanley J. Morrison fell ill with a cold two weeks ago and suffered a heart attack Monday evening at St. Cecilia's parish home. He was taken to Mercy Hospital in Bay City Tuesday morning and placed in an oxygen tent with slight improvement reported Wednesday. Bishop Haas, head of the Grand Rapids Diocese, visited him on Wednesday.

Clare County ME A Meets Monday Night in Clare

The Clare County Michigan Educational Association holds its second meeting of the year Monday evening at 8 in the Clare High School auditorium. Dr M L Smith from Central Michigan College of Education will speak on minimum teacher salaries with Otto W Pino and Herald Grasman leading the discussion. Harrison Youth Escapes Injury in Rough Ride

A Harrison youth, unnamed, drove off the dead end of Beech Street at the First Street intersection Wednesday evening. In the darkness he missed the end of Beech Street and plunged the car over an embankment, bouncing over debris and rubbish before hitting a tree. No one sustained injury.

At St. Henry's Church Vernon a large crowd witnessed eleven boys elevated to the Knights of the Altar for service at the priest's side. Annual hunting season closes Tuesday night

The deer season ended Tuesday night amid rationing worries and travel tales from many who sought meat and sport. Emill Bringold Dies After Cerebral Hemorrhage Near Home

Emil Bringold aged 66 of Greenwood township Clare County Michigan died November 24 1948 after collapsing from a cerebral hemorrhage while walking near his home on Lake George road He was born in Bern Switzerland August 7 1877 and came to America in 1904 Survived by brother John two sisters Louise and Madeline and several nieces and nephews Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Monday at his brother’s home with Rev Chas Kleithardt officiating and burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

Supper and Party at REBEKAH Club Hall

The American Legion and Legion Auxiliary hold a pot luck supper for members and their families on Tuesday night December 7 at 6:30 in the Legion rooms.

Farm home burned near Clare. two youths burned

The Frank Rilett farm home five miles north and four and a half miles east of Clare burned at 5:00 Tuesday. Maryam Rilett, using kerosene to start a fire, was burned when a kerosene can exploded. Wallace Rilett also suffered burns while helping evacuate belongings. Both treated by Dr. Ballard and released. Fire started in the kitchen near the telephone. other children escaped unharmed. Insurance partly covers losses. exact amount not available. A second fire damaged a one story frame home in Vernon City owned by Mrs. Carrie Perverse. roof and attic damaged, salvaged by firefighters.
