A three car collision nine miles north of Clare at about 5 pm injured five people. Nemo Bancroft and George Smith of Jackson suffered serious leg and head injuries. Robi Cogswell, also Jackson, had cuts. H. G. Bacon of Lake City and Frances Althouse of St. Louis Mich. sustained facial and rib injuries. Auto driven by R. J. McCartney of Flint stalled for gas, causing a pileup as passing cars collided. the stalled car was unharmed.

Conrad Walker, former Past Commander of Walter Hl. Larman Post 128, has been named Vice Commander of the Fourth Zone Detachment Headquarters Sons of the American Legion. He will oversee the northern lower peninsula, duties include supervising existing squadrons and organizing new ones in Bay Midland Mecosta Newago Muskegon and adjacent counties. Palmers Celebrate Their Golden Wedding Anniversary
The village of Farwell hosted Mr. and Mrs. George W. Palmer as they marked fifty years of marriage with a family gathering and dinner. Palmer, a longtime Farwell resident, recalled county’s first rural mail route and a train scare while his Ford car carried mail for thirty years. The couple, both longtime Civil War era organizers in the Masonic order, plan winters in California and Florida. They have three children Jesse V C Palmer and Mrs Ross Schram of Kent Ohio and a daughter, Mrs J F Gettrust. Their marriage took place November 22 1887 in Saginaw after meeting in adolescence. he was born March 28 1865 in Jackson Michigan and she in Milan Ohio.

Consumers Power company crews of eleven work east of the main building on East Third Street to complete a new substation by January 1. Three transformers with a 2000 kilowatt capacity will be installed to regulate 11 000 volts, replacing the old South of the station.

7 412 Cars Transported Across Straits In Five Days
The first five days of the deer hunting season saw 7,412 cars cross the Straits of Mackinac ferries, up 23.2 percent from last year. Five boats operated with emergency use of the Chief Wawatam, but hunters faced delays at Mackinaw City in the opening days.

Christmas Tree Cutting Restrictions Under State Law
State conservation officials remind that cutting or removing Christmas trees and related greenery without landowner consent is unlawful. Possession of a bill of sale or proof of ownership is required when transporting a tree, with fines from 25 to 500 dollars and up to 50 days in jail for violations.
