More than 200 parents and students from Clare Coleman Farwell and Harrison attended the annual area College Night at Coleman High School. The three hour program let a student visit representatives of three chosen colleges while refreshments were served. Keith Acker, Student Council President, welcomed attendees and announcements followed. Hosts and hostesses from Student Council assisted. Participating schools came from Houghton Michigan and Mt. Pleasant.

The Department of State auto tag office in Clare has moved to Richard Nivison Accounting and Tax Service on East Fifth Street near McEwan. The office at Allen Insurance Agency closed. new 1966 vehicle licenses went on sale November 1 and have been available at Nivison's since November 12.

70 mile per hour limit restored on US-27 freeway
The 70 mph limit is restored on US-27 Expressway through Clare and neighboring counties Gratiot and Roscommon. A temporary 65 and 55 mph limit had been in effect while overpasses are under construction to upgrade US-27 to interstate standards. The 65 55 mph limit remains in Roscommon County until project completion while Lansing north to the divided highway remains at 65 55.

Two Die On Opening Day Of Michigan Deer Season Near Clare
Michigan hunters faced misfortune as opening day left two dead. John Placsak, 49, of Waterford, died in Summerfield Township from an accidental gun discharge while hunting alone. Howard Plowman, 68, of St. Johns, died of a heart attack in Freeman Township. Coroner ruled Placsak’s death accidental after investigators found a rifle discharged while he rested in a branch blind. Police helped transport his body a mile and a half to the road.

The Michigan Tourist Council expects 87 winter sports centers to serve fans in 1965 66 with about 250000 travelers spending 28 million dollars. Non skiers and other winter activities rise as hunts ice fishing skating tobogganing and winter carnivals draw crowds. About 750,000 coho salmon will be released next spring by the Conservation Department in three northern streams to boost Great Lakes sport fishing. The Platte river near Honor will receive 250,000 fish, Bear Creek near Bear Lake will get 300,000, and the Big Iron river near L'Anse will receive 200,000.
