500 Double Deck Buses Set for Spring Rollout
Greyhound plans 500 new double deck express coaches worth 50 000 each ready by spring. The GM built buses seat 43 with 10 front seats and 33 elevated rear seats, large baggage compartments and restrooms. Engines include two diesel units with emergency motor, lazy susan baggage access, and advanced cooling and safety features. Training spans two months for drivers as Pontiac GM builds 150 already in operation on routes from Detroit to Miami New York and West Coast legs.

Merle Raber Soil Conservation Service Technician has become Farm Planner for Clare County starting November 10. He replaces Peane Meredith who moves to Midland County. Raber, his wife Alice and 10 month old son Zale will live in Harrison. He is a native of Allegan and a Michigan State College graduate with In Service Soils Training. Four Place In Speech At CHS Mt Pleasant Contest
Clare High School students competed in the Voice of Democracy contest at the Municipal Building in Mt Pleasant on November 20. Billy Carter won second place and received a $25 savings bond and a December dinner invitation from the Mt Pleasant Junior Chamber of Commerce. Rites Held for Monoxide Gas Victim Charles W. Furman
Funeral services for Charles W. Furman of Clare were conducted at Stephenson Funeral Home with Rev. Smith of the Nazarene Church presiding. Burial followed at Brookside Cemetery in West Branch. Born February 12, 1909 in West Branch, he spent most of his life in Flint and married Mabel Sullivan in 1981.
