Clare High School hosts its annual carnival with eight King and Queen candidates. Nominated are Nola VanBuskirk Dick Roe Markeith Allen Charles Murphy Margie Wood Nard Robinette Ivalee Foss Kyle Hanley. Classes run booths and games, with seniors leading Key Game Cake Walk and throws, juniors Lock the Teacher and more, freshmen and sophomores running various booths. The event features exhibits and performances including All Calls to the Rescue and Common Clay Courtroom Burlesque. Crownings by Earl Ruby follow the second show.

County takes loan with low bid from State Bank of Clare
The county secured a $20 000 loan for operating expenses by accepting the lowest bid from State Bank of Clare. Three Clare Men Die in Carbon Monoxide Car Tragedy
Three Clare men Charles Furman Randall Dougherty and Claude Gantz were found dead in a running car Friday morning Nov 12 in Clare. Coroner Carl Stephenson confirmed carbon monoxide poisoning with bodies found in a 1946 Chevrolet parked by Hemlock and Fourth Streets. Police report they were out all night with Furman who lived on Vernon Hill and Dougherty who worked cutting pulpwood. Funeral services were held for Gantz Furman and Dougherty with survivor details named.

Red Cross Reorganized in Clare County Chapter Meet
The Clare County American Red Cross reorganized at a Hotel Doherty meeting with J. M Grim of Farwell named chairman. Secretaries and treasurers will continue in post. Home Service and Water Safety chairs also named. A November 29 meeting was called to complete the organization with Miss Helen Jones assisting. The chapter will not join Clare county’s United Fund drive this year due to budget and program gaps.
