Clare Community Fair and Open House Success
The Ninth Annual Clare Community Fair at Clare High School on November 15 and 16 featured FFA and Home Economics leadership, students from rural schools, an afternoon of contests and a large evening open house. The event showcased agricultural exhibits with numerous prize winners in crops beans corn and other categories and included the elementary chorus dances and displays by 4 H clubs and the Rotary Club.

Farmer Protects motorists from fallen tree on M-59 near Pontiac
Highway Commissioner Charles M. Ziegler commends Harry Reeves a quick thinking farmer near Pontiac for guarding the trunkline M-59 during a storm. Reeves spotted a large tree fell blocking the road and stood a lantern warning approaching motorists. Several vehicles including those of Governor Harry F. Kelly and the commissioner avoided crashes.

Dr J and White Seriously Hurt In Auto Crash
Dr J G White son of Mr and Mrs George White of Clare was seriously injured when his car rear ended a large oil tanker on US 27 north of Harrigan. He was hospitalized at Clare, regained consciousness later that day, and survived with concussion and multiple injuries. Sheriff Amble investigated. condition improved by Wednesday.

Strait of Mackinac ferries set two records for deer season
Michigan State Highway Department ferries carried about 32 000 hunters and 14 500 vehicles between Mackinaw City and St Ignace in the five days before the 1945 deer season opening. Five boats ran continuously with half hour departures, average wait about two hours, and meals served in cars during waits.

Clare County joins ten early states in meeting its National War Fund quota with about 102 percent. Clare Public Schools raised 104.27 dollars across grades from kindergarten to high school, with seventh grade the top contributor and to receive a token of appreciation.
