Little John Stewart Bell Dies After Brief Illness
Little two year old John Stewart Bell died in Pontiac after a few days of illness. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Stewart Bell. Funeral services were held at Kirby Funeral Home with interment in Pontiac cemetery. He is survived by his parents and grandparents Mr and Mrs J W Bell plus many aunts uncles and relatives.

Pontiac hunter fatally shot by stray rifle bullet
Donald Davis, 24, of Pontiac, was fatally wounded while deer hunting when a high calibre rifle bullet entered his back and exited near the arm joint. He died at Clare Hospital at 1 20 PM after being found by his party. Authorities said a shot from another hunting party caused the accident and his companions were absolved of blame.

Three Men Missing After Higgins Lake Outing
Three fishermen vanished on Higgins Lake Saturday night. A cap, oars, and a fish spear were found Sunday at the north end. Missing are Corp. Arthur Osiling of Roscommon on furlough from Camp Warren Wyoming, Clif Beacon of Lansing and Beacon's 16 year old son. State police learned of the disappearance Sunday afternoon after relatives feared a deer hunt.

Beebe and Davis plead guilty in circuit court tragedy cases
In a Midland circuit session Judge Ray Hart accepted guilty pleas from George Beebe 53 of near Marion and Myr Davis 21 of Harrison on negligent homicide charges. Sentences will be pronounced next week after probation review. Beebe’s auto collision killed Al Leech in Temple and Davis’s crash killed his brother in law Floyd Brooks. Davis was due for final examination for military induction on November 16.
