The Clare County Red Cross Chapter met at Harrison Court House with over twenty members. Reports from county units were given and soldiers kit bags fillings turned in. The Winterfield Group contributed twenty dollars to the kit bag fund. Mrs B F Hamption of Harrison donated one dollar. Franklin Township unit sponsored a public chicken supper at their town hall, netting over thirty dollars. Attendance from Harrison was strong and dinner was cafeteria style. Interest in Red Cross activities grows as residents are urged to join and support boys abroad.

Franklin Douglas Dies After Long Illness in Michigan
Franklin Douglas died November 8 1942 at Harrison Michigan after a long illness. He was born October 15 1852 in Stryker Ohio and married Mary Rex in early life. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Murphy Funeral Home Harrison with Rev Albert Dawe. He is survived by six children, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many friends.

Public Health Committee Holds Meeting in Clare County
The Clare County Public Health Committee met November 4 in Clare City Hall. Nurse Ina Mary Young said infant and pre school clinics are well attended with 27 children examined in Clare and 12 in Harrison. A county wide vaccination drive is set for December 10 and 11 with locations and times listed from Franklin to Carrow schools.
