Clare High School’s champion Pioneer football team, Mid-Michigan B League champions, were guests of the Clare Kiwanis at a recent meeting. Coach Perry noted 15 straight undefeated games, 240 points for and 49 against, with Clark Kinsey scoring 74 points. The Pioneers defeated Shepherd and Saginaw Michigan Lutheran Seminary, earning statewide recognition from The Saginaw News as top in Central Michigan and The Detroit Times as third-best in the state.

Boy From Lansing Vocational School Awaiting Trial
A teenage boy from the Boys' Vocational School at Lansing waived examination in Clare Municipal Court on charges of housebreaking and theft from a home north of Clare. He is remanded to Clare county sheriff custody in Harrison on a $500 bond and awaits the next term. His companion from the same school was sent back to the Vocational school by a Clare county probate court decision.

Temperance Speaker to Address Clare Church of God
Rev. Henry C. Jacobs a Michigan temperance worker will speak at the Clare Church of God Sunday morning service. He has led pastorates in New York Iowa and Michigan and for eight years directed education for the Michigan Temperance Foundation, visiting over 300 high schools and engaging 250000 students with a moving picture and forum on alcohol. He now serves as organizing director for the foundation. He will discuss the topic Weighed in the Balances and the public is invited.

Hunter dies of carbon monoxide in Illinois deer hunt
A Chicago hunter, Douglas Warren, 32, died from carbon monoxide poisoning after he and Clarence Terry slept in a closed car with a charcoal heat source in Winterfield Township near Harrison. Terry, who became sick, drove to the sheriff’s office with Warren unresponsive. coroner Carl Stephenson and state police were notified.

CHS Band To Strut In New Uniforms

Local Man Found Dead at Dee Smock Farm Near Clare
Frank Dundervick was found dead on the Dee Smock farm southwest of Clare Thursday November 10 before noon. He lived alone. Funeral services were Monday at 10:30 with burial in Vernon township cemetery.

Clare High School principal Richard Wheeler will become Clare school superintendent effective January 1, replacing Tom C. Campbell who leaves for an assistant superintendent post at St Clair Shores. Wheeler, a Clare resident since 1945, earned a BA in history and political science and an MA in school administration from Michigan State College. He has taught government US history and world history and served as assistant coach. Wheeler is married with a son Ricky. Campbell announced his move to Lakeview Public School after nearly five years in Clare.
