Lake School Heating Plant Blows Up Again
The Garfield Township Rural Agricultural School at Lake experienced a blast in its hot air heating furnace Thursday afternoon just after dismissal. Principal Jessica Thomas called Neil Watkins to inspect. windows in the boiler room were blown out and the furnace damaged. No injuries were reported.

Frank Rilett's Leg Broken in Barn Timber Accident
Frank Rilett of Hatton township suffered a badly crushed lower left leg on November 6 while raising timbers for a barn addition. The hoist tipped, timber fell, striking his leg and breaking both bones about six inches above the ankle. He received surgery at Central Michigan Community Hospital Mt. Pleasant to replace the bones with a metal plate and has since convalesced at home.

Violations of Game Laws Get Men Into Court
Roy D. Rodgers and Charles E. Smith of Sears were arrested in Freeman township by Conservation Officer Don Bell November 9 on transporting and possessing a shotgun with slug and buck shot in the area between sunset and sunrise. They pled guilty and chose a $45 fine over 45 days in jail. Ebony Kurts of Sears was arrested in Freeman township for possession of firearms in a wild game area without a license, arraigned in Municipal Court, pled guilty, and paid an $18 fine.

Mrs. Alta Amy age 44 of Plint and Mrs. Marge Baker 42 of Carson City were wounded by a stray rifle bullet in a hunting party in Missaukee county. Local Hunters Bring Back Bucks After Busy Week
