Judge Donald E. Holbrook sentenced two confessed criminals in Circuit Court. Orlo Brooks of Saginaw pled guilty to uttering and publishing a forged instrument and received 24% to 14 years at Jackson’s Southern Michigan State Prison. Frank Holmes a longtime Clare area resident died of a heart attack Saturday night at his Stevenson Lake home in Vernon township Michigan at 66. He was a GC and O telegraph operator for 44 years retiring 1950 and earlier served on the Clare City Council. He leaves Edith wife a daughter Mrs Vic Peckham of Pittsburgh a son Glenwood of Toledo six grandchildren three sisters Mrs John Bergey Mrs Charles Sherman and Mrs H L Wobig a brother Emmitt Holmes of Lake and many relatives. Clare Hunter Shot Sunday in Accident
Myron Murray a 26 year old from R4 Clare was brought to Clare General Hospital Sunday morning after being accidentally shot in the left leg by a hunting companion. Robert Marshall 19 of R1 Coleman and two others stood in a group when Marshall's shotgun discharged. Pellets were removed and Murray required many stitches. His condition was listed as good but he would stay in the hospital about another week.

About 60 Michigan Flying Farmers joined Ern est Irwin of Vernon township to raise a new barn over two days.
