Clare High School finished a successful football season with a 19 to 0 victory over Midland at Ward's Field last Friday. Clare outplayed Midland, earning 12 first downs to 6, and Coaches Floyd Aldread and staff prepared the team for a basketball season starting December 7 with away games at Boyne City and Charlevoix and a home opener December 14 against Reed City.

Mrs. Margaret Cleveland Dies at 72 After Long Residence
Mrs. Margaret Cleveland passed away at age 72 while living with her son William. Born in Ontario July 27 1856 she moved to Michigan and married Newel H. Cleveland in 1883. Funeral at Methodist church featured Rev Hurd and solos by Mrs. McAllister. She leaves four children two sons and two daughters died in infancy, nine grandchildren and siblings. She joined the Methodist Episcopal church in youth and was active in the Ancient Orders of Gleaners.
