A group of parents and leaders gathered at the Court House on Monday evening November 8 to elect officers for a newly formed Parents and Leaders 4 H Association. Mrs Jessie Ford was chosen president Hari Simmons vice president Mrs Marion Magnus secretary and Mrs Howard Brockway treasurer. Five additional directors were named and plans discussed for a midwinter meeting January 14 and the next regular meeting December 17. War Veteran Found Dead in Piney Woods Cabin
Marvin Quance an 87 year old Spanish American War veteran formerly of Detroit was found dead Saturday in his Piney Woods cabin near Harrison. Coroner Dr G E Lamb ruled a heart attack the cause. Remains were taken to Thurston Funeral Home awaiting relatives. The paper notes uncertain links to a daughter in Lansing and a Detroit stepdaughter.
