Harrison veteran affairs counselor Mrs Inice Eaton announced the Board of Supervisors approved office space in the new County Building. The Veteran Counselor’s office will open by November 16 in Room 25 with hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 12 and 1 to 4, serving county, state, and federal veteran programs.

Michigan 4-H Club members showed five steers at the 3&th Annual Detroit Junior Livestock Show at the Michigan State Fairgrounds. Placings included Dick Elliott winning first with a 1030 pound Junior Yearling Angus. Jeff Elliott second with a 965 pound Junior Yearling Hereford. and Jeff Bean fifth with a 940 pound senior Angus. Auction followed the exhibit with 180 steers 75 hogs and 160 lambs entered statewide.

Injured When Horse Hits Car in Vernon Township
Laura D. Bontrager, 19, of Clare, was treated at Central Michigan Community Hospital for lacerations and a back injury after her car collided with a horse in Vernon township early Sunday morning, Oct. 29, 1967. The horse, owned by Matt McConnell of Rosebush, ran into the car. the animal was killed.

Floyd Boardman Wins Citizen of the Year Award
Floyd Boardman was named Citizen of the Year at the Clare Chamber of Commerce annual meeting and dinner dance held in the Wedgewood Room of the Doherty Motor Hotel. The retired businessman supported the Chamber, Little League baseball and civic programs, receiving the plaque from J Stuart Bicknell as Dan McDonald led the event. New directors Howard Everts Jay Green and Jerry Forsberg joined the ten member board replacing outgoing Dick Groves Frank LaGoe and Ben Burdo. Dick Ulrich the current vice president is expected to become president. the directors will meet next Monday to begin the new term.
