Clare County jail escapee captured after 175000 bond
Allen Arthur Adams a 19 year old from Harrison escaped Clare County Jail Thursday night. He was recaptured Friday morning with a knife and charged with jail break adding 100000 to his prior 75000 bond. Sheriff Gus Aleck suspended jailer Bill Guiette during the investigation.

Two Dead Found in Car at Redding Township Intersection
Police said two women were found dead in a car at Stockwell and Kirby Roads in Redding Township on October 20. Identified as Darlene Ellen Watson 29 and Duane Avery Kietzman 43 of Marion. Tentative cause fumes from a broken exhaust pipe. Final cause not known for 7 to 10 days, state police reported.

Clare Gets New $1.6 Million Electronic Central Office
Michigan Bell announces the Clare exchange will switch to a 3ESS system on Saturday November 5 creating Touch Tone and Custom Calling options for 3 300 customers in the 386 exchange. Local calls will require seven digits and dialing will move to a single ring with a lower tone while emergency pay phones will be converted to free access.

New report cards mark changes for high school grading
The first marking period ends Wednesday November 2 with report cards handed during Clare Education Week November 7 to 12. A new one sheet form lists all classes teachers and grades with numbers 1 through 9 indicating student characteristics. Absences and tardies are shown below courses and grades.
