The Clare City Public Library welcomes first patrons in a two story modern quarters at McEwan and Fourth. An open house Friday June 1 from 10 am to 5 pm showcases 2,400 square feet plus basement vault space, air conditioning, and new books from the State Library. Charter members from 1922 honored. Library officials greet the public.

Ex Sheriff Everett Allen Dies at 71 in Clare County
Everett Allen 71 a former Clare County Sheriff died Monday at Gladwin Hospital after a long illness. He served as sheriff from 1952 to 1956 and was a member of the National Sheriff’s Association. He is survived by his wife Louise, son Delmar, daughter Mrs. L. J. Thompson, three sisters, three grandchildren. Funeral services Thursday at 2 p.m. at Clare Methodist Church with Elders Hobart and Dale Beaver officiating. Burial in Cherry Grove Cemetery.

Clare youth Larry D. Gillis USN machinist's mate second class serves aboard destroyer USS John R. Pierce which retrieved the Aurora 7 craft from Atlantic waters on May 24 after Navy Lt. Cdr. Four-Year-Old Injured In Lawn Mower Accident Near Clare
Donna Buchel daughter of Mr and Mrs Norman Buchel was seriously hurt when a lawn mower struck a rusty nail into her left leg.
