Church Gains Reported At Methodist Annual Meeting
The Clare Farwell Methodist Churches held their annual meeting in Clare with Rev. Leon Manning in charge. Rev. L J Nevins reported an 8.9 percent rise in membership and a 7 percent increase in church school enrollment along with a 52.3 percent rise in the Youth Division. Awards and new officers were named for both the Clare and Farwell charges as the churches closed a year of repairs and strong finances.

Dow Chemical Announces Plans for Midland Center
The Dow Chemical Company unveiled plans to build a large Administrative Center in Midland. The 80 acre site at the northwest corner of U S 10 and M 20 will house company headquarters with an initial three buildings. Ground will start this summer after bids and final plans.

Rosebush Firemen Busy After Two Calls
The Rosebush Fire Department responded to two early morning fires. A chicken hatchery in Weidman burned, followed by a Bud Cairns residence fire. Clare Fire Department assisted, stopping the blaze before Rosebush could return. A collision occurred with a school bus on a narrow bridge. no injuries were reported.

Camp Rotary near Clare Michigan will open June 4 for Scouts with staff training the week of June 17. The 480 acre site surrounds Lake Rotary and offers archery riflery canoeing and outdoor cooking among other activities.
