The County Rally at Center church Rosebush drew about 150 attendees with 84 delegates from 18 Sunday Schools. Rev C B Hawkins led a song service and talks on class work followed by a 6 00 banquet served by church ladies. Rev Willis Gelston gave the address A Fruitful Life. Memorial day events organized by the Walter A. Larman post of the American Legion will begin with reveille at 6:00 AM and flag display along McEwan Street. At 7:00 AM ex veterans will place flags on cemetery graves, with a parade forming at the city park at 10:00 AM and proceeding to Cherry Grove, Gilmore, and local schools. Clare high school track team scored thirteen points at the sixth regional interscholastic meet held at Mt. Pleasant under Central Teachers College. Wallace Johnson won the 440 yard dash in 54.8 seconds and Wally Johnson led a sensational 220 yard relay heat for Clare to place second overall. other placers included Ronald Thayer third in the 220, Acey Parker third in the high jump, and Wilson Sharpe fourth in the long jump. Wally Johnson advances to the state Class C meet at Michigan State College with coach Alldread.
