State Health Dept Appeals for General Vaccination Campaign
Dr. Guy L. Kiefer, Michigan Health Commissioner, appeals to Clare officials to implement a broad vaccination drive for all residents not yet vaccinated in five years. He warns smallpox is prevalent and spreading in Michigan with 151 cases in the first 24 days of May. He fears continued spread could cause deaths and harm the state’s summer resort economy. Mayor L. Adelbert E Heath died May 31 1927 at Marion Michigan aged 88 years 9 months and 27 days. He was born August 3 1888 in Niagara County New York and married Mary E Bobst September 27 1865. He leaves a daughter Stella Lampman Hastings Michigan son George Hastings nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral held at the home on Wednesday by Rev BE Smith. Burial in Hastings Michigan beside his wife.
