Pvt Norman E Gerow, son of Wesley and Mary Gerow of Sheridan Township, was killed in action in France on January 27 1945. Letters from Chaplains Lisle Bartholomew and Thomas F Heavey express condolences and note he died instantly during combat near Kaltenhaus. He was buried in an American military cemetery in Eastern France.

Doctor Called to Owosso by Nephew's Death
Dr Christina M Schutt was summoned to Owosso on Thursday to attend the funeral of her nephew A S Andrews who died in his Union Telephone Co headquarters office Tuesday after a heart attack. Andrews was a past master secretary of Owosso Masonic Lodge and a Knight Templar. Funeral at 1 pm Sunday from the Owosso Episcopal Church with Masonic rites, burial in Albion Cemetery. Dr Schutt will not return to Clare before Wednesday of next week.

160000 Trout Planted in Clare County Streams
The Michigan Department of Conservation with Clare Rod and Gun Club and local high school boys planted 160000 fingerling brook and rainbow trout in Clare county streams. Fish were shipped from Northville Federal Hatchery in a rail car led by Captain Al H. Radil and crew. Planting was supervised by local and state officials using trucks from Paris. Fingerlings about two inches will reach legal size in about two years.
