Post Office Clerks Meet in Alma

The Michigan Branch of the National Association of Post Office Clerks will hold its annual convention in Alma on Memorial Day May 30 at the Wiks Temple. The Michigan organization has cooperated with the chamber of commerce to arrange the event and entertainments for clerks and their wives include visits to the King floral gardens Michigan Masonic Home Alma College and other sites. Hundreds of postal clerks from across Michigan are expected and Alma claims the distinction of being the smallest city to host the state convention.

Dalton Barn Destroyed Near Clare by Fire

A large forty by eighty foot barn on the Frank Dalton farm, three miles southeast of Clare, was destroyed by fire Tuesday night. Loss is estimated at 4500 dollars, partly insured. Neighbors reported the blaze. Clare rural fire squad responded but could not save the structure. Cattle and horses were moved out. several hogs burned along with hay and tools. the blaze lit the area and drew hundreds of onlookers as roads were blocked.

Clinic for crippled children clinic in Clare county held in Clare

A clinic for crippled children of Clare county will be held in Clare on Tuesday June 19 with orthopaedic specialists Dr Kidner of Ann Arbor and Dr Blodgett of Detroit volunteering services. The Clare county chapter of the Michigan society for crippled children arranged the event after a conference with Mrs Esther Martin. Twenty eight county children are registered and a complete history will be collected to plan treatment and cure efforts. Details and venue will be announced in a later Sentinel issue.

Former Clare Young Man Succumbs at Alpena
