Juvenile Car Theft Leads to Police Custody in Reed City
City Police picked up three juvenile boys Fred Belisle 14 Jerry Belisle 11 and Chas Hatt 12 after they stole an Oldsmobile from the Ford Garage parking lot Reed City. Mt Pleasant State Police checked files and local deputies noted prior trouble with the trio. Two cameras found in the stolen car were recovered. Also named were Chester Schaar fined for speeding and Robert Donaldson ticketed for 55 in a 25 zone and 8 5 mph over highway limit. Trailers and heavy vehicles warned on load restrictions and a four wheel trailer outfit cited for improper parking brakes and safety chains.

A group traveled from Clare via Detroit to Washington and will return through Harper's Ferry, while seventh and eighth grade teachers Frances Sinclair and Olive Evans led the local safety program achieving a strong school and pupil record.

Former Clare businessman killed Friday
Fred Stanley 84 formerly of Clare was found along a Springfield Missouri railroad right of way last Friday night and died hours later in a hospital. He appeared to have been struck by a train. Officials found 148 in cash and a Clare bus ticket in his pockets. He had missed a Springfield bus. He had run a candy kitchen in Clare years ago and visited relatives here two years ago. Remains sent to Coolidge Arizona for burial. He is survived by his brother Eugene of Clare, two sisters in California and a sister in Ohio.

A Van Buskirk Passes Sudden Sunday Morning
Abram Van Buskirk born September 15 1884 in Ontario Canada moved to Michigan as a child. He died suddenly on May 9 at sixty three and a half, leaving a large family and a lasting memory as a devoted husband and father. Funeral services were held at the United Brethren Church in Harrison with interment in Greenwood cemetery.

Ann Bicknell Wins Forensic Honors At Clare High School
Ann Bicknell daughter of Mr and Mrs Willard Bicknell earned top forensics honors for Claire High School. She won first in dramatic reading at the regional contest at Warner Hall Central Michigan College of Education Mt Pleasant following a district win with The Snow Goose by Paul Gallico in St Louis April 14.
