Bee At Dover Gospel Tabernacle A Grand Success
Early last week a community bee at Evangelist M R Tatman’s home gathered men with hammers and women with baskets to aid the Dover gospel tabernacle. Thirty men and twenty women, plus children, enjoyed a bountiful dinner and leftover eats. Dedication begins May 24 with nightly services for two weeks, inviting former Dover residents to attend. The group will donate oil paint for behind the pulpit and a large chair, with all welcome to help and worship. Watch for distribution of hand bills.

The local Methodist church board held a Friday evening business session after a generous Aid Society supper. District Superintendent praised the church’s large attendance, strong Sunday School and Epworth League participation, and unity among women’s societies. Finances remain solid despite hard times. Obituary of Agnes C Huffman
Agnes Crawford Huffman born November 24 1857 in Essex County Ontario died April 1 1931 at her Milan Michigan home aged 73. She married Julius Huffman December 31 1879 and lived near Clare Michigan most of her life before moving to Milan to be with her nurse daughter Florence B. Surviving are husband Julius daughter Florence sister Mary Sifton Detroit brother John Crawford Roshe bush eight nephews four nieces and many friends. Burial followed in Cherry Grove cemetery after services in Clare and Milan with scripture prayers and a reflection on devoted service.

Paving of US 10 to Clare Authorized by State Board
The state highway department announced approval to advertise bids for grading and paving 8.5 miles of U S 10 between Clare and Coleman. The new road will run about 100 feet north of the Pere Marquette line, paralleling the railroad from Coleman to Loomis, with Loomis rerouted to the east city limits. The existing roadbed will be used as a detour.

Watch Buried Fourteen Years Reunites With Owner
A watch and chain buried for fourteen years was found last week and brought to Grill and White jewelry store for inspection. Clarence Durfee of Hatton township had lost the Hampden make watch while ploughing in 1917 or just before entering service. After unearthing the piece last Friday, the hands showed light rust but the timepiece was deemed in excellent condition and now runs again.
