Frank Smalley died at his brother Fred Smalley s home after several months of illness. He was 69 years, 11 months old. Funeral services were held at Thurston Funeral Home with Rev A Dawe. Interment was in Cherry Grove cemetery. He had long resided in Clare and made many friends. Life sketch to appear next week.

Miss Dorothy Murphy employed in Lansing was seriously injured Sunday evening returning from a weekend visit with her mother near Rosebush. She remained in critical condition at Northway hospital Mt. Pleasant. Three others were injured when the car driven by Lee W. Larimer overturned on US-27 north of Mt. Pleasant. Fred Scholl Everett Graham, both of Mt. Pleasant, were treated with injuries. Graham is nursing a wrenched neck and bruises and is reported doing nicely as Murphy improves.

Edward Gilmore Dies at Clare Home After Long Life
Edward Gilmore died Sunday night after a stroke. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 3:30 PM at the Clare home with Rev. Binhammer and Rev. Fedke officiating. He was born in Holstustra Germany in 1857, immigrated at 15, lived in Saginaw and Farwell, married Anna Lange in 1889, and left a family of six children, six grandchildren, and one sister in Germany. He and his wife had returned to Clare last year to live on property they owned.

Earl Beatty suffered a broken left foot and bruises when his car left the road and overturned in a ditch while returning to Vernon last Friday night. The crash occurred 112 miles south of Clare as a door ajar and wind jerk caused the steering to fail, badly wrecking the new Hudson.
