Michigan leads in reforestation with 88 707 acres in 1954
Michigan State College foresters report the state planted over 88 707 acres in 1954 to top the north central area in tree planting. Horticulturists advise pruning old or neglected apple trees to restore production. Pruning cuts should be smooth and close to the branch to avoid rotting and weakening the tree.
