Mt Pleasant region to discuss White House education plan
The Mt Pleasant area is hosting a regional conference as part of a nationwide effort funded by the President and Congress on education. Michigan will hold ten regional meetings with up to seventy invitees from Clare and surrounding counties to discuss classroom shortages staffing finances and services for the handicapped. A meeting is urged for March 24 at 7 45 p m in a high school room to prepare delegates for the March 29 program and the national Washington conference.

Mrs Lydia Mulberg Dies After Long Illness at 82
Mrs Lydia Mulberg age 82 of Vernon Township died at home on Monday morning March 14 after a twenty year illness. She was cared for by daughter Neva Edwards for eleven years. Funeral services were held March 16 at Thurston Funeral Home with Rev H Brinkman of the Clare Church of God officiating and burial in Gilmore cemetery. The obituary will appear next week.

Baraboo Man Ralph Moward Killed in Accident

Stiff Penalties Handed To Drinking Drivers
Norman D. Rose 86 of East Detroit arrested by Clare police March 8 for driving under the influence after his car bumped a parked vehicle. He paid a $54 fine and surrendered his license at Municipal Judge William B. Dunlop. Two companions, James Budicott 28 and William Cott 38, were fined $12 each for drunkenness and disorderly conduct. On March 14, Revert Lee Shives 19 of Grasse Point Park was jailed after a chase and fined $80 with license surrender when he appeared before Judge Dunlop.
