Thirteen Mile Gap on M-61 to Be Completed This Summer
The Michigan State Highway Department plans to finish the thirteen mile gap on M-61 this summer. Eight miles lie in Clare county between Hayes Hatton and Hamilton Arthur townships. The route runs from Spike Horns wild reserve twelve miles north of Clare to the Gladwin county line, adding five miles in Gladwin to connect Standish west to Tustin. Funding of about 32000 is provided by the RFC with 4500 on hand. remaining installments to be paid in April May and June. Road work will be mostly by hand labor and easements were signed by property owners without issue. The project will ease travel for Wallace residents seeking Gladwin Harrison or Clare trade points.

Pioneer Citizen Ray Cobleigh Dies After Stroke
News of the death of Mrs. Ray Cobleigh at Ewart home early Wednesday stunned relatives and friends. She suffered a paralysis stroke Monday evening and did not recover.
