He built a career in retail management before serving 27 months in the U.S. Marine Corps, including time in Hawaii Iwo Jima and Japan. The 1946 fund drive for the Clare County Chapter of the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis raised 474.34 dollars with half to the county fund and half to the national foundation. Clara McGinnis longtime Farwell resident dies at home
Mrs. Clara McGinnis aged eighty four died at her Farwell home on a Monday in February 1946. Born Clara Cowling in 1861 in New York State she lived in Sheridan Marion and finally Farwell where she married James McGinnis. Survived by son Oscar Peterson of Ann Arbor grandsons Dr Victor Peterson and J R Peterson great grandchildren and a Lansing sister. Funeral held in Clare with Rev E C Redman officiating and burial in Greenwood Cemetery Marion.
