W Earl Green Succumbs To Ill Health
W Earl Green deputy county clerk and Harrison native died February 11 at Clare Hospital after nineteen days there and a thirty year illness. Born March 26 1894 he married Leota Rhodes in 1924 and worked at Ford in Detroit before long runs in Harrison and Midland. He served as deputy county clerk since 1929 and brief stints as park custodian while recovering from illness in 1939 40. Survived by wife Leota one uncle and three cousins with a continuation notice on page twelve.

Four Injured In Traffic Accident West Of Clare
Four people were injured in a Thursday evening crash half a mile west of Clare on US 10 due to icy pavement. Nora Collins and William Henry were in one car. Donald Higgins Edna Dingman in the other. All injured were treated at Clare Hospital and released.

Mrs Myrtle Butters Dies At Gaylord After Long Illness
Mrs Myrtle Emma Sharp Butters died February 14 1946 at her Gaylord Michigan home after weeks of illness. Born 1891 in Paulding Ohio she came to Clare county as a child, married 1908 to Ferris L Butters and had nine children. The family moved to Otsego county in 1928 and she was a charter member of the Evangelical Church of Gaylord. Survived by daughters Evelyn Rentschler Esther Fischer Edna Webber and sons Elwin Robert and Clark plus eight grandchildren. Funeral held in Gaylord with out of town relatives attending.

Alexander Gliva a 38 year old former convict has confessed to killing Arba Hawley a Detroit real estate dealer in his office on West Hight Mile Road last November 9 He was sentenced to life imprisonment Gliva allegedly said he planned to rob Hawley and buy a chicken farm and admitted using a home made air pistol to threaten and shoot Hawley after he resisted Sechowski and Mildred Nulf are held on related charges.

Consumers Power Company will invest over 17 million dollars in 1946 to expand generation and distribution across its Lower Peninsula service area. A 1200 MW B C Cobb Plant will rise at Muskegon Lake with work starting this year and completion in 1947 8 48, while Sag inaw Bays John C Weadock Plant gains a 50 000 kW unit for 170 000 kW total. The program includes more lines substations and gas facilities with 619 000 electric and 252 000 gas customers today and substantial growth expected in 1946.

Samborn Home Burns Below Clare After Oil Fire
Merle Samborn and family escaped when Mrs. Samborn, starting a fire with fuel oil, shielded her children Merle Jay and Marcia Mae as flames engulfed the home three miles west and a quarter mile south of Clare. She suffered severe burns and shock, treated with plasma and drugs, while the house and furnishings were destroyed with $2,500 in house loss and $1,000 insured.
