Seminar Teaches Citizenship To Ferris State Attendees
More than 200 high school juniors and seniors gathered on Ferris State College campus the week of June 18 for the Young People's Citizenship Seminar sponsored by the Michigan Farm Bureau. Sue Loomis of Farwell and Robin Arnold with Valdine Cooper of Harrison joined area students. sessions covered Americanism economics and world governments with notable speakers including Dr. John Furbay and Dr. Clifton Ganns.

Senior citizens meet for carry in dinner
Clare Sixty one members and guests gathered June 19 at the Congregational Church social rooms for a carry in dinner. The Lord's Prayer was recited to start the meeting led by President Faye Stephenson. The group discussed Flag Day and Father's Day with readings and awards for several fathers. Nine members attended festivals and a Detroit ball game trip was planned for July. Officers elected June 5 will take duties July 3: Charles Rutter president Grace Beebe vice president Florence Kane secretary Reva Maxwell treasurer. Mabel Watkins won the door prize.

A Jesus Festival of Music will take place in Clare City Park on Sunday July 1 from 2 to 6 pm. Sponsored by Key 73 the event features local acts and guests from Kalamazoo Saginaw and Holland with Rev. Charles Hilliard as chairman and Bruce Owens arranging groups. If rain hits the program shifts to Clare High School Gymnasium.
