Clare Board Approves Final School Budget 1972 73
Clare Board of Education approved the final budget for 1972 73 a revised income of 1 732 189 and expenditures of 1 723 655 in a 15 minute meeting. The board also authorized five bills totaling 6 000 for auditors review after the school year ends in June.

Clare Lions plan fourth Independence Day fireworks show
The Clare Lions Club sponsors a July 4 fireworks display on the island in Lake Shamrock starting about 10 p.m. for 30 minutes with ground effects. Donations are invited to keep the event annual and a rain reschedule is possible for Sunday. Parking will be along the lakeside road and the event will be touched off by Lions members.

Ulrich elected mayor of Clare in special commission session
William Bil Ulrich was chosen mayor at a Monday meeting of Clare’s City Commission, succeeding Charles Clark who resigned to move away. The session also approved the Clare Gladwin intermediate district merger creating five districts and funding for expanded special education services totaling about 9 000 students with a district value around 200 million dollars.
