More than 500 public officials and residents from 21 counties attended a U S Army Engineers hearing in Saginaw on valley flood control and development. Governor Sigler pledged full cooperation with the commission and engineers as plans for basins, diking, channel improvements, and potential flood mitigation were outlined for Cass river, Tittabawassee, Flint and Shiawassee basins.

Bertha Randle a Sheridan township pioneer died at her son Floyd Randle’s home in Clare on June 18 1947 at age 75 years 10 months 8 days. She married Jobe Randle September 25 1887 he died 1925. Survived by ten children twenty five grandchildren ten great grandchildren and several relatives. Funeral held at Clare Congregational Church Saturday at 2 PM Rev Chas Rieinhardt officiating with interment in Cherry Grove Cemetery.

Twenty eight boys and friends of Troop 125 cleared brush cut stumps and built a log dam with sand bag banking raising water level sixteen inches on the Tobacco River Cedar Park with permission from the Michigan Department of Conservation.
